Direction: Soak daals for 2hours(it will cook faster)
Add oil or butter in pan(kadai), when hot add mustard(rai) and cumin seeds(jeera).
After seeds crackles add asafoetida and curry patta.
Add chopped onin,cook till little golden in colour. Add vadi or methi leaves.
Add chopped tomato,cook till it melts. Add ginger, garlic, green chili paste ,fry for 2-3 mins
Add chopped methi leaves(if not using vadi), turmeric powder.
Add daal with water, salt and garam masala. If you need to add water later, always add hot water.
cook for 8-10 min or till daal is cooked perfactly.
eat daal with rice, rotis or parathas.
