Extremely popular with North Indians, these are best eaten with chilled yoghurt and your favourite pickle or chutney. Make a meal of this wholesome and tasty Mughlai-style stuffed bread. Use fresh crumbly Paneer for this to get a lovely creamy taste! Can't find Paneer in your local store? Make some at home!
 

Prep. Time:10min

Cooking Time: 2-3min for each paratha

 

Ingredients: 

For the dough:

1/2 cups wheat(chapati) flour

1/4 cup Whole wheat flour 

1/4 cup oil

Warm water

Salt to taste

For the filling:

11/2 cup boiled mashed potato

3/4 cup crumbled paneer

1/2 cup crushed green frozen peas

1/4 cup red onion finely chopped

Ginger, garlic, green chili paste

Fresh Cilantro

Roasted fennel seeds

Garam masala

A pinch of turmeric powder

Salt to taste

A pinch of sugar(optional)

Direction:

To make a dough

Mix flour, salt, oil and nead the dough with water.

Add enough of remaining water mixing till dough forms a soft ball (stop adding water before dough becomes we and sticky) Knead till dough is smooth out dough with oil or ghee. Keep covered with a cloth or bowl for about ½ hour.

To make a filling

In a large bowl, mix above filling ingredients.

With greased hands, knead the dough. Make balls approximately 6 cm in diameter. Keep covered with a cloth.

On a floured board, roll each ball of dough into a flat round 10 cm in diameter.

Stuff paratha: (use 5 tbsp filling for each round of dough.

Heat tava on medium heat for about 3 minutes.

Put paratha on tava. Cook for 1 min and turn it over, spread little bit of oil on both sides of paratha and cook until  golden brown.
